Friday's Lightbulb: Fairytale Castle In Scotland

Today I'm featuring one of the most iconic places in Scotland and one of the most visited attractions in the Scottish Highlands. Eilean Donan castle is on an island surrounded by majestic scenery, and I'm sure most of you have seen it before. So why would I feature it on my blog, which is all about going off the beaten track?


Well I decided to feature it, because you may not know about the possibility of staying in this stunning location. Not in the castle itself, but in Eilean Donan Cottage or Eilean Donan Apartments. Can you imagine waking up, and seeing this view first thing in the morning - simply stunning! If you want more information, click here. Travel Photo Friday: Waste Of A Dolphin

This cleverly titled giant sculpture is called 'Waste of a Dolphin', and is on display at marinas throughout the Portuguese Algarve this summer, and for the next five weeks it's on display in the outdoor space at the Portimão Museum by the riverside. The dolphin is about eight feet long, and is by Algarve artist BJ Boulter, and is completely made out of discarded plastic.  It's safe to say we're all becoming more and more aware that the oceans desperately need our help, and the idea for this project came from a voyage into South Africa by boat years ago. BJ sailed into the harbour in Durban, and the water was glittering like diamonds - but it was actually a sea of plastic bottles. Amazing Road Trips

Road trips are a great way to see the sights at your own pace, and discover new places that are totally off the beaten track. If you've never travelled this way, then I'd highly recommend it!  I regularly post my travel pics on social media and TravelSupermarket recently analysed some of the most picturesque pit stops and driving routes that get shutters clicking whilst on a road trip. The most Instagram-worthy road trip in the world, and the most popular over the summer months is....Route 66. Incredibly, the 2,448 mile long American hot spot was papped 1,198,035 times - no surprise given its stunning views! Second on the list is the stunning Great Ocean Road in Australia. Friday's Lightbulb: Andaman Islands

If you are a fan of places like the Seychelles or Mauritius, then I may have found a new holiday destination that you'll love. The pure white sand and turquoise seas are just as beautiful, but this is the remote Andaman archipelago of India.  In my opinion, the Andaman islands tick even more boxes than the likes of the Seychelles, and that's because very few people have heard about these 200 little-known islands so they're less popular with tourists - at this moment in time!  The islands are located in the Bay of Bengal, and are surrounded by incredible coral reefs. It's those reefs that visitors will relish, from snorkelling to kayaking through mangrove forests - there's plenty to do.
